The book is rounded off by a comprehensive essay by the book's subject on the issues of National Unity, Language Policy and Extreme Poverty. Essays also record the professor's work and views on the country's language policy and on alleviating extreme poverty in the country. Hashim Yaacob is a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Malaya, and four other Private Universities in Malaysia. He remained in that position for twenty years, so this book records his contributions to the budding university, in establishing, for example, the university press and library. All other appointments of Vice Chancellors since then have been political appointments. A collection of essays in English and Malay by former colleagues celebrating the academic life of Ungku A Aziz, who amongst his many distinctions, was the first and last person to be appointed as Vice Chancellor of the University of Malaya.
